“I’ve seen both sides of the personal injury world, and that’s why I fight so hard for my clients. Real people deserve someone in their corner who understands the system and isn’t afraid to stand up to it.”
Washington State Bar
Carrie Umland brings over two decades of experience in personal injury law, with a career marked by dedication, compassion, and results. A proud Washington native, Carrie earned her Bachelor of Arts from Central Washington University and her Juris Doctor from Seattle University School of Law.
Carrie’s legal career began with firsthand experience on both sides of the insurance world—first as a claims representative for State Farm Insurance, then as a case manager and negotiator at a plaintiff’s personal injury firm while in law school. After graduating, she initially practiced insurance defense, but in 2000, shifted her focus entirely to representing injured individuals. Since then, she has built a reputation as a fierce yet fair advocate for people taking on powerful insurance companies, corporations, and government entities.
She is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and an Eagle Member of the Washington State Association for Justice, a distinction held by top trial attorneys in the state. Carrie has also contributed to the legal community by serving as a judge for both the American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy Competition and Seattle University School of Law’s Appellate Argument Competitions.
Outside the courtroom, Carrie is just as driven. A dedicated triathlete and marathoner, she has completed races across the globe—including a personal best during the historic 2500th anniversary of the original Athens Marathon. She actively supports The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, combining her athletic passions with her commitment to giving back.
Whether in the courtroom or in the community, Carrie leads with purpose, integrity, and heart.
